i don't say much, but this could be the week!.
Many thanks everybody.
i don't say much, but this could be the week!.
The funeral actually went very well. There was a bit of preaching, but only what I would expect from any religion.
There was also some shunning but many more spoke to me.

Don't worry, I won't kick off at the funeral, I meant airing my personal views on this forum.
A local elder has recently been removed after speaking to his Dfd sister at their mothers funeral, therefore the elder doing the talk is worried about his own position as he is also saying a prayer at the cremetorium.

My sister died last week. She and my parents are active JWs.
The funeral is tomorrow at the KH.
I was Dfd years ago after I had stopped attending for about a year.
I have a good relationship with my parents but the grand shunning session tomorrow will put a lot of strain on what is already going to be an emotional day. I just hope that the 'loving arrangement' does not put me or my non JW wife in any awkward situations.
I have already been told that I cannot say anything at the cremetorium as a hardline CO will be in attendance.
Don't JWs just love their labels.

perhaps something that happened in fs, the memorial, convention etc.
i need a laugh.
last year at the memorial, an old brother was so shaky in the hands, when he passed the wine it spilled all over him.
For a laugh a brother dropped a condom into the COs ministry bag. The following week a very p*ssed of PO mentioned it during his review of the CO visit. LMAO.
it wasn't all that bad.
met a few friends who also don't give too much about it and had some great laughs afterwards.
we talked about how we still remember when only about 7000 took from the emblems and now its more than 11000. we also laughed about how it would look like having jesus and his disciples pass around wine and bread on a plate like that.. all in all it was the same procedure as every year.
16th time I missed today!
anyone in the uk watching this seris?
last one on next tuesday.
the first two can be watched online here:.
I caught bits of last nights episode. They pointed to Deuteronomy 33:3 as being evidence that YHWH had a wife called Asherah. They reckon that ancient scribes misrote her name as 'host' which is very similar in Hebrew. Checked out my NWT but their claim didn't seem to add up, maybe I need to look at another translation.
Was was interesting was that we were reminded that there is a very long and complex history of the people of the bible lands that far pre-dates the time when the bible was written.
Oh and they also pointed to a piece of ancient pottery found in Isreal that has both the names of YHWH and Asherah on it.
there are two parts to this topic you can read one or the other or both if you want, i just figured i post this for differents ones who might being going thru what i am going thru i tried to write this as quick as possible so everything i am posting here is not to offend anyone i know everyone has the own opinions on different things so you can disagree or agree, but this is where i stand.
sorry for any spelling errors or grammar issues up front.
my story .
You left for different reasons than myself.
At the time I didn't have a problem with the rules and restrictions, they seemed a small price to pay for eternal life in paradise.
I left when I realised that the whole setup and its doctrines were a load of crap. The moral code has for the most part stayed with me, ok I may be stretching this point a little but my life hasn't decended into debauchery.
If your only reason for leaving was to have a 'good time' then I can see why you are now ready to go back. This time though try to look at their teachings a little more objectively.
